Stem cells and regenerative therapy: what to establish before you pay
This is the field where the gap between marketing and evidence is widest anywhere in medicine. Some applications are supported by reasonable trial data, many rest on mechanism and case series, and a few are sold well beyond anything published. Sorting them apart is the whole job.
Physician-supervised stem cell therapy in Medellin is published from about $4,000 USD, within a wider regenerative and longevity programme starting at $4,000 that also covers exosomes, PRP, peptides and IV protocols.
Four things to establish before you agree to anything
- The cell source. Umbilical, adipose and bone-marrow-derived cells are not interchangeable, and the source changes both the preparation and the regulatory position.
- The dose and the characterisation. "Stem cells" without a cell count and a viability figure is not a specification. Ask what is actually being infused and how it was measured.
- The regulatory status in Colombia. This is a real question with a real answer, and a clinic that waves it away is answering it too.
- The evidence for your condition specifically. Knee osteoarthritis is not multiple sclerosis is not type 2 diabetes. The literature is uneven, and a serious physician will say so.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration maintains a consumer alert on unapproved regenerative products. It is not a reason to dismiss the field, but it is the baseline context for every conversation you will have with a clinic — including the ones in your own country.
